  1. Vic – Vic is the capital of the region of Osona, in the Barcelona Province, Catalonia. The history and food of Vic make for an excellent day trip from Barcelona, by train or car. If you are looking for adventure, climbing the mountains of Vic may be perfect for you. Climb the hills and upon reaching the top you will be able to see the panorama view of a man-made reservoir and the top of a church, a place called Parador Vic-Sau. Furthermore, the Museo Episcopal de Vic has a magnificent collection of medieval art with masterpieces of painting and sculptures from the Gothic-Catalan and romanesque, a very popular place to visit in Vic. Hot air ballooning is another very famous activity for tourists in Vic and a fantastic way for you to explore the city.

 

  1. Besalú – Besalú is located in the northern part of Catalonia, near the city of Girona. There is an old 12th century bridge which guards the entrance to the city. It is a perfect spot from which to photograph Besalú, as well as being a great subject itself. Jewish communities have lived there in peace with the Christians until the 15th century. The mikvé is one of the remains of the Jewish, a type of bath used in religious ceremonies, which dates back to the 12th century and is the oldest of its kind and one of only five in Spain. Even though Besalú is a small city, it has a museum called Micromundi where you can see 2,000 miniature artworks.

 

  1. El Penedès – The district of the Alt Penedès produces excellent-quality wines and champagne. Wine-growing is carried out at over 300 wineries, some of them built in the modernist style and open to visitors. When the visitors go to the Vinseum at Vilafranca they can live and experience the culture of wine and everything surrounding it. Another option for tourists to spend a good time in Penedès is to join one of the fairs and festivals. Every season of the year has its singular event: for example, they start the year with the Twelfth Night Procession (Cavalcada de Reis), continue with the Festes de Sant Raimon, fight the cold with the Xató Festival, etc.

 

  1. Tossa de Mar, Costa Brava – Tossa de Mar sits gorgeously on Catalonia’s Girona coast with its beautiful Mediterranean climate. The walled old town offers spectacular views of the surrounding coast and is the perfect place to enjoy the history of the region and the sun.  When you step into the arched door you will find yourself in a wonderful world in the maze of antique houses and medieval streets. The city has beautiful beaches and  little sheltered coves.

 

  1. Begur, Costa Brava – Begur is one of the important tourist destinations of Spain. With the most popular beaches and the ancient remnants of the 16th and 17th century, it is definetly the place for enjoying your vacation or getaways. Do you like to discover the city by walking? If so, Plage de Sa Tuna is the perfect destination for you. You can enjoy the serene view and soak your feet in crystal clear waters. Another activity that you may prefer is to go to Aiguablava Dive Center and take the full underwater tour with the experts. If you go to Begur, it is a place not to miss.
